Gap Three: Syllabus Pressure.
Even the most progressive Chennai school operates under the weight of board examination requirements. A Grade 6 student in a Chennai school with a STEM lab attends one session per week. The sessions are well-designed and genuinely engaging. The child enjoys them. But between Monday’s session and next Monday’s session, six days pass. Six days during which the thinking started in that session has no environment to continue in. No materials to return to. The child arrives at the next session having partially forgotten where they were. The session starts again, picks up the thread, makes progress, and then ends. Six more days. Another partial reset.
This is not the child’s failure or the school’s failure. It is the inevitable result of a once-weekly, large-batch, syllabus-pressured environment trying to do something that requires frequency, depth, and individual attention to do properly.
